Our water-resistant cotton canvas has all the natural softness and texture of cotton, with a water-resistant finish that helps spills bead up and roll right off. It doesn't feel stiff or plasticky, and it has more body than quilting cotton, so it's made for bag-making.

  • Water-resistant cotton canvas (this one): Soft, natural cotton with a water-resistant finish. It's perfect for totes, pouches and bags with a handmade feel.
  • Natural canvas: A heavier 400 gsm cotton with no coating. It's perfect for market totes and projects that need a sturdy, classic base.
  • Midweight canvas: A 600 denier polyester with structure built in. It's perfect when you'd like to skip the interfacing.

Good to know

  • Each piece is pre-cut, so if you order more than one, they arrive as separate pieces rather than one continuous length.
  • Spot clean to keep the finish at its best. It's machine washable, but the water-resistant coating can wear down over time.

This canvas sews much like a sturdy cotton. Use a 90/14 universal or jeans needle and a stitch length of about 3 mm. It works beautifully with interfacing when you'd like a little extra body. Press on a medium setting with a pressing cloth, since high heat can affect the water-resistant finish.

Spot clean with mild soap to keep the water-resistant finish intact. It’s machine washable, but keep in mind that the coating may gradually wear off after multiple washes.
