Our lightweight water-resistant canvas is a 300 denier polyester with a clear PU coating on the back and a classic matte finish. It's light and strong, and it can handle the rogue coffee splash. That's why it's our go-to lining for pouches, wristlets, wallets and everyday bags.

Why makers choose lightweight canvas

  • You can skip the interfacing. It adds gentle structure on its own, so you have fewer steps and less bulk.
  • It's water-resistant, so spills and splashes don't soak through and the inside of your bag stays dry.
  • It barely frays, so your seams stay tidy with very little finishing.
  • It keeps your bag light. At 300 denier, it holds its shape without making your bag feel stiff or heavy.
  • It sews easily on a home machine, even through the layers at your zipper ends.

  • Classic finish (this one): Matte, with gentle structure. It's perfect for everyday linings, pouches and wallets.
  • Silky finish: The same canvas with a smooth, silky sheen and a softer drape. It's perfect when you want a lining that feels a little extra special.
  • Midweight canvas: A sturdier 600 denier with more body. It's perfect for bag exteriors and bigger projects.

  • Each piece is pre-cut, so if you order more than one, they arrive as separate pieces rather than one continuous length.

Lightweight WRC is easy to sew and a lovely lining to work with. Use a 90/14 Microtex needle and polyester thread, and set your stitch length to about 3 mm for tidy seams. Clips work better than pins, since pins can leave small holes in the coating. If you need to press, use a low setting with a pressing cloth on the right side, and keep the iron away from the coated back.

Spot clean with mild soap. Skip the machine wash – it can wear down the water-resistant coating over time. Iron on low heat with a pressing cloth, topside only. No steam.
